Massage

Massage is a form of rubbing and kneading of the musculo-skeletal system with the therapist hands or with the use of a tool (like a thumb saver) to increase the blood flow, relieve tension or pain, relaxation, improve mobility, flexibility and quality of life. Massage can be either deep or superficial depending on your individual needs. During a treatment Daniel my use trigger point therapy, cross fibre work, myofacial release and other techniques to achieve the common goal of improving your bodies health.

TENS

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation is the use of a machine that produces a current to stimulate the nervous system of the body for therapeutic purposes. In a treatment setting TENS is used to reduce inflammation and pain. A TENS machine can either be used with pads which can be taken home or during a treatment session usually used with dry needling. TENS units can be used during pregnancy, back pain, muscle tightness and relief of stress. Please inform your practitioner of any heart conditions, pace makers or other medical conditions before using one of these devices.

Prescription Exercises and Stretches

During a myotherapy or massage consultation Daniel may ask you to perform curtain stretches or exercises to help maintain a health posture, decrease the chance of injury, decrease stress placed on the body, increase flexibility and help with your treatment to improve the outcome.

Corporate/Workplace Massage

Depending on your needs I can provide relaxation, massage or myotherapy treatments to your employees and/or co-workers to increase productivity, reduce stress and tension at work. I have a massage table which I bring along and treatments are 15 minutes to 30 minutes usually or longer if required.

Joint Mobilization

This is the application of a force in a curtain direction to cause a change in a specific joint. However, the key difference between mobilization and manipulation is that there is no sudden thrust with a mobilization. The grade of strength used depends on the joints dysfunction, the hypo mobility and pain associated at the joint being treated. Don't worry it's not the same as going to the Chiropractor!

Cupping

Cupping is a therapy in which heated glass cups or suction cups are applied to the skin along the meridians facial lines of the body, creating suction and believed to stimulate the flow of energy, reduce stress, increase blood flow, promote heat and healing.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is the insertion of single use needles into myofascial trigger points, which are described as a hyperirritable spot or nodule of skeletal muscle found within taut bands, contracted or relaxed muscles which can be painful on compression giving rise to characteristics of referral pain, tenderness either locally or distally and autonomic phenomena. From dry needling these hyperirritable nodules may cause a local twitch response to occur with similar characteristics.
